In the UK people are now becoming aware of what tourists who have visited this special part of the Philippines have long realised - the beauty of Boracay! (Filipinos already know themselves that it is one of the finest tourist destinations in the country.)
TripAdvisor has recently named Boracay "No.1 Beach & Sun Destination in Asia"! In the UK, the magazine "TV Quick" described Boracay's White Beach as the “Number One Tropical Beach In The World". Two great accolades!

White Beach is a stretch of white powdery sand which extends for an amazing two and a half miles, and yet it is just one of many such lovely beaches that the island can boast.
It wasn't all that long ago that Boracay was first "discovered". The island initially became popular with backpackers in the 1970's. It was otherwise a well guarded secret, so that only a few knew of its existence.
Of course, word soon started to get around, and more and more people around the world became aware of the amazing beauty and activities that Boracay had to offer.
Hotels, restaurants, bars and other businesses started opening up to cater for the ever increasing demand from visiting tourists.

A place to unwind |
Today, the island of Boracay is firmly established as one of the top tourist spots, not just in the Philippines, but the whole of Asia!
With such an amazing variety of sports and activities available, areas of beauty and charm to enjoy and a host of places to eat, and drink, this island is just waiting for you to visit.
Tourist Seasons
On Boracay the High Season starts in October, ending in May. Tourists come in larger numbers seeking the sun, beautiful beaches and fun activities.
The Peak Season is when the tourists are at their height. This includes Christmas, the New Year, Chinese New Year, and Holy Week (Easter). Some resorts place a premium on their rooms, and Boracay gets fully booked. Make sure you book early if you wish to visit Boracay during this time.
The Low Season starts in May, and ends in October. It is rainier than usual, and there are generally fewer tourists.
Getting There
There are regular flights to Boracay from Manila and from Cebu. Boracay is served by two airports, both on the nearby Panay island.
Caticlan Airport is the smaller airport, and is only 5 minutes from the port and ferries. Its shorter runway means that smaller turboprop airplanes are generally used.
Kalibo Airport is a larger airport 90 minutes from Caticlan port, accommodating bigger airpcraft. Air-conditioned vehicles operate between Kalibo Airport and the ferry port.
Caticlan Port has numerous banca pump boats that ferry passengers between the mainland and Boracay Island. The trip takes around 20 minutes. If you are carrying heavy luggage, there are porters who will assist for a small gratuity.
